LIFE CAN BE HARD

Life can be really hard sometimes. It's difficult to keep a healthy balance of Physical, Emotional, and Spiritual well being all the time. I try to surround myself with people and places that make me happy. Sometimes it's stressful when I have to spend a majority of my time in places I don't want to be. There are times I just want to say to hell with work and school, but we all know that doesn't work.
One thing I've learned is that things will always get better. If I get in a rut and feel like the world is caving in I just keep on going, and things will get better eventually.
School can be a pain. Thousands of dollars to take a bunch of meaningless classes from teachers that seem to be competing to see who can get more students to drop the class, rather than taking an interest in helping a student succeed. Then I work my butt off each semester working towards the goal of getting into the teacher education program, only to have them tell Me and Alyssa we aren't qualified for the program.
Life can be a real punch in the mouth sometimes. The question is will I allow a punch in the mouth to knock me out, or am I gonna get back up and swing back? All I can do is get up and swing back. The good thing is knowing I have friends and family in my corner. Giving me help and encouragement, and helping me get back up when I don't feel like I can any more.
This post wasn't meant to be a doom and gloom and it wasn't meant to turn into a boxing analogy either. Life can be hard, but things always get better.

Our weekend in a glance.

Okay.. I am going to hurry and do a post tonight.. This weekend was the annual "Ryan and Rachel's Halloween Party!" It was a lot of fun! I always enjoy going because they have some fun games and chances to win some cool prizes. So thanks Ryan and Rachel for always doing it! This year I was a football player and Steven was Richard Simmons.. we didn't have any money for costumes so we just used what we had!
Also, on Sunday "Guitar Hero: World Tour" came out, so we spent the whole day playing it! It is so fun! So here are a few pictures of us playing it.

This is a fun picture of Ryan, Rachel, Bailey, and Kyla. And also Rachel and I being silly!

Me acting tough on the way to the party. And this is Steven after winning the most valuable prize! Yeah for Steven!!

These are Guitar Hero pictures.. you will notice Ryker is completely involved and entertained by it! He had to hold the extra guitar while we played! What a cute boy!

New Position...

Well let me just start from the very beginning and let you know where I work and what things I do.. I got hired on with the Weber County Jail in May 06. I worked in property which meant that I had to give inmates their jail clothes and take their personal clothes, and I also had to change out inmates dirty clothes.. that basically sucked, but it was a starting place. I worked there for over a year. Then I got transfered to the Sheriff's side. (which is what I am currently) I got moved over there last October. I deal with civil stuff like Summons and Complaint, Evictions, Small Claims, etc. I also specialize in Protective Order/Exparte Orders and also Subpoena's and I do Garnishments as well. I feel like I am pretty amazing at what I do and I know it like the back of my hand. "My officer" is very happy with my work and it makes me feel needed. So that is what I have been doing the past year. I have made many good friends and I have made a few enemies, but all in all.. it has been a good experience. I have been spoiled to have my mom and dad there working as well, so it gives me a chance to see my parents every day.
Well my boss took me into his office today and informed me that I am getting moved to a different job.. which gave me mixed feelings.. then he informed me that I will be moving to Kiesel. For those of you that dont know.. Kiesel is our county's work release jail.. Most these inmates work in the day and report back every night. It is more relaxed for the inmates and most of the time the inmates didn't do too bad of a crime. Anyway.. this place is located on 26th and Washington just behind the city building. So my boss informed me that as of Oct 31 (yes Halloween) I will be working there. Wow.. way to give me some notice!!
So now I have mixed feelings.. I am happy, sad, excited, nervous, scared, relieved, and pretty much every other feeling. I dont like to be new.. and I hate not knowing how to do things.. so that is what makes me a little hesitant. (of course I dont have a choice) Everyone is telling me how much I will like it there and how much less stressful it will be, but I wont be convinced until I go. I just hope they are nice there and will work with my school schedule cause its pretty crazy!
So I guess I will keep you updated on how it goes. I go in this friday and start training, maybe I will get a better idea by then!

SPORTS

I have to be one of the biggest sports fans there is! I watch NBA, NFL, MLS, EPL, College sports, Tennis, Golf, and pretty much everything else. I even got into Horse racing when Big Brown was going for the triple crown. I love it. I love to watch, and I love to play almost any sport. The only "sport" I can't tollerate is NASCAR (because driving a car in a circle 500 times is not a sport), and Biking (because every last one of them is doping up like crazy). I suppose with Lance Armstrong getting back into it I may follow that a bit just to see how he's doing.
We're getting into the heart of the sport season again. RSL may get into the MLS playoffs for the first time ever. My Buffalo Bills are off to a fast start at 4-1. The Jazz are looking great from what I've seen in preseason and Training camp. Brewer, Milsap, and Miles look like they've improved. Deron, AK, and Memo can always be counted on. The Jazz should get off to a great start because they're in good shape already and their schedule for the first month is soft.

However, my excitement in the past has always hit a dead end for EVERY team I have chosen to like. RSL is fun to watch but nobody really takes them seriously. Even if they make the playoffs they haven't got a snowball's chance in hell of winning the cup. The Bills haven't made the playoffs since 1998.... and in that game they lost to the Titans on a last second B.S. play where they lateralled the ball a few times and scored a touchdown with no time left on the clock. Or Maybe you're more familiar with the fact that they lost 4 super bowls in a row. That was fun to watch!! The Jazz haven't fared much better. Every year the fan inside me has me convinced the Jazz will win the championship. And every year they get to the playoffs and fall short. Whether it's Tom Chambers Volley ball spiking the ball off the backboard in the closing seconds, or Scott (the moron) Pagget tipping in Stockton's 3 pointer that would have sent the game into overtime. Pagget must have left his brain on the bench when he checked in because two points did absolutely NOTHING for the Jazz except end their season. Something happens every season that makes them fall short. I won't give Rachel the benefit of Mentioning how other seasons ended. The Cubs are my baseball team and they haven't won a world series in over 100 years now. They got swept in the first round this year despite having the best record in their league!
My point is I have chosen teams that are hard to root for sometimes. I'm still waiting for one of them... any of them to break through. I'd be so happy and the 20+ years I've spent watching in misery would all be worth it. It's gotta be the year for one of them right? The Bills? The Jazz? RSL? I guess I'll have all year to watch the games and find out.

UTAH JAZZ Here we come!!!

Okay.. so Saturday afternoon was the Utah Jazz intra-scrimmage game.. and of course we were there!! My mom and I rode the Front Runner down to SLC, ate at the Gateway, then headed to the Energy solutions Center about 1 1/2 hours before the scrimmage was to take place.. of course it was pooring rain and we were outside waiting in line (it was free). So finally they let us in, I go running past all these people, run down the stairs and find a nice spot 4 rows from the court in the center! They were sweet seats! So we saved the family seats. It was a lot of fun.. we got to watch interviews and see how they warm up, and then they did the scrimmage. Then when everyone was leaving, Booze and D Will grabbed their shoes (signed) and threw them out to the crowd! Well my brother Casey really wanted it, so he jumps up and grabs it.. then this red headed kid starts fighting for the shoe (grabbing caseys arms and trying to get the shoe) So Steven jumps in and starts wrestling with the kid..and then I jump in and start puling the guys arms away so Casey can get it for good. So it was a pretty entertaining thing to watch (I would imagine). Anyway.. finally Casey got the shoe! The kid was pissed and complained to the security people.. Casey had scratches all over his legs, and a jammed finger, but it was all worth it!! So that is our exciting story! Oh and the kid that complained didnt end up with anything but an ice pack! If you look close on the picture with me and the shoe, you can see the kid staring at me, all mad. So check it out!

This is Steven...
I was covering at the America First WalMart branch a few Mondays ago and the girls there were all looking at Blogs and they asked if I had one. I called Alyssa to ask what our blog address was so they could see some pictures of her. America First is pretty gay with internet access. The only things I have access to is America First pages, KSL.com, Deseretnews.com, Dexonline.com, and SOMETIMES Weber State. It's helpful when I can check Weber State stuff online but it's really a hit and miss thing. Anyway... I have been reading posts from people and it's been fun. Then I thought "this is my blog too, so I'm gonna write on it from time to time." So here I am. I have decided that I'm going to write in bold letters and that's how you'll know it's me writing rather than Alyssa.
Some people may think it's pretty gay for a guy to write on a blog but I've always been partial to Internet stuff. Most husband's have no clue that these blogs even exist, and if they do they don't care. I used to chat with friends, and I've got the Myspace thing (even though nobody really talks to me on there anymore). So it's fun for me.
I keep getting interupted with work! These posts will probably be pretty scattered but oh well.
I'm realizing that Fall is good and bad. For example: The NFL and NBA seasons both start in the fall and that's awesome. The bad part is that school starts too... and the fact that school demands so much attention means that I'm missing the NFL and NBA games that are on. Not so much NFL but you get the point.
Another positive to fall is the great weather. Except that it's too cold in the morning, and too warm in the afternoon. I just can't seem to get a comfortable temperature for some reason.
We have a few things coming up that I'm really looking forward to. RSL is playing their first game EVER at the Rio Tinto stadium on October 9th. I'm so excited for that i could soil myself just thinking about it. Then just three weeks later the Jazz season will start. Alyssa and I called DISH network last night to see how much it would cost to upgrade to a package that gets FSN. We found out that it's only $5 more a month so that was a happy day. I was really getting worried because our old package didn't get FSN games and 60/82 games will be on FSN. I braved last season without FSN but I can't in good conscience do it again. We also got a channel that Alyssa really likes so it's a plus for both of us. Her channel has "Who's Line is it anyway" and that's a good show.
Ryanachel's Halloween party is coming up soon too and I'm looking to redeem my agonizing triple over time defeat in the Cauldron toss!! I just hope Ryan and Rachel don't get too much practice time in because that would be an advantage. I guess either way I'm not going to be denied this time around. BOO YA!!
Well I've realy just been rambling for half the day now so I should probably stop.
Thanks for coming to our blog! We hope you enjoy reading about our life and please leave a comment so we know you stopped by!!
