LIFE

With all of life's new changes I find myself thinking on a deeper level lately. Korbin is 2.5 weeks old and he's already changing. Being a Dad is a special thing and something I don't take lightly. Alyssa and I have talked many times about kids and the way we view them. Alyssa tends to think about the now, and is concerned with keeping Korbin happy and healthy in the present. I can't help but think about the future. What will adult Korbin be like? How will our parenting effect the way he grows up and what he will become? Is he going to love sports as much as I'd love him to love sports? I guess at the end of the day he's going to be his own man! He'll get out of life what he puts into it... and hopefully we can push him just enough that he can succeed.
With the addition of new babies into the family I've also thought to myself... "well, in with the new and out with the old at some point!" Seems kinda harsh I know.
I have been lucky to never have a close friend or close family member die. Death in the family is inevitable. I have some older grandparents that are... well... older. My Dad has had some serious health scares in the past, and may have some more issues in the near future. I'm not sure I'm prepared to deal with that.
Korbin being born is such a happy thing, but a death in the family would be a quick reminder that life is short. One day you're in grade school, next thing you know your onto college. Then you've got children of your own and before you know it your children have children!
See this is what my brain does. One thing leads to another and before you know it I'm an 80 year old man wearing depends and I've got 15 grandkids running around me! I guess I need to take a page out of Alyssa's book and focus on the here and now so I can keep my sanity.

Swimming, Camping and Korbin

Steven and I always said that when we have a kid that it would not change what we do completely..of course there are some things that never will be as easy..like getting up and running to the store, but we didn't want to stop our life completely because of the little one. So we have tried to stay with our theory and our little one has managed to go to a swim park and camping all in the first 2 weeks of his life. Camping was quite a challenge for me..lots of dirty hands trying to touch his face, camp fire smoke, mosquitoes, and the hot sun! We only stayed for a few hours each day and I think that was enough for me to handle, plus it wasn't as enjoyable since I had to feed him every few hours and I would miss half the conversations and such. But over all I think it went well. The swimming trip went well as well..I wasn't able to swim so Korbin and I sat in the shade and watched the kids and the dad's go down the slides..it was very entertaining and I was very glad that Steven got some time to have fun.
As for Korbin, he weighed 9 lbs 1 oz when we left the hospital and less then one week later he weighed 9 lbs 13 oz, so I think he just might be a chunker! He has the strongest little neck that I have EVER seen on a newborn and his legs are very strong as well! I was holding him the other day and he pushed off me to stand up! CRAZY! He is a good little eater and a good sleeper. He usually only eats once or twice during the night, so I am able to get more sleep. He is a good little baby and we absolutely love him!

Some of the crew that went swimming.

Steven and Devin after going down the slide at the same time. It resulted in some sore elbows and ribs. They had fun though!

This might possibly be one of my favorite pictures of Korbin.

Rachel and Bailey camping. Rachel was singing to her and giving her tickles, it was cute.

Steven, Ryan, and Devin getting ready to go down the freezing river on their bellies (I dont know who thought this would be a good idea!?)

Ryan going after Devin's flip flop after the belly event. About 4 seconds after I took this Ryan turned his ankle on a rock. He is now limping and the flip flop was never recovered.

Grandpa Rounds and Korbin, this was cute cause you don't see Grandpa Rounds hold tiny babies too often.

Our sweet little boy!

Never in a million years would I have EVER thought you could love a little one as much as I love ours! And now I understand what a mothers love really means!
Korbin Randy Rounds was born July 11th, 2010 at 12 pm. He was 9lbs 7 oz and 22 1/2 inches long, so he was a good size baby! We decided on the name Korbin because Steven and I had loved the name since we first got married, the middle name is after Steven's Dad, Korbin is the first male Rounds so we wanted to get the Grandpa's name in there. My labor was long, but I am sure it could have been worse! I was in labor for a long 15 hrs and the epidural didn't seem to work like it should have.
We had our families there for support and they were just as excited as we were to bring this little boy into the world. Korbin, Daddy, and I are doing well now, we are loving being at home and having our own family. Steven gets to stay home with us for 2 weeks and he is so awesome in helping even when I don't ask. He has the proud Daddy eyes which makes me love him even more!
And now for the pictures that you have been waiting for..

My pregnancy pictures!

So have I told you how wonderful my sister is? Well she has all these many talents and sometimes it just makes me sick how good she does things! Anyway, I asked her if she would take some pictures of me and my belly and Steven, so here is what came out of it! I also got a really cute picture frame with these cute pictures in it. She is really good, so if anyone needs a photographer..you should ask her! Anyway, here are the pictures.. they were taken at about week 34 of my pregnancy.

I wanted to make sure and get some pictures of the belly, I have been trying to make sure I get a picture of me every few weeks just so I have them and can compare them to future pregnancies. So it has been fun to get these pictures!
As of Saturday I am 36 weeks! I can now have this baby and everything would probably be okay! So that is good news! I haven't been to the doctor in almost 2 weeks and last appt he was 6lbs, so that is exciting! Everything else is going well.. We are completely looking forward to this new chapter in our life and are excited for the experiences we are going to have.

Okay..so I'm irritated!

So we never thought owning a house would be easy, and we knew that we would come upon problems, but we never imagined we would have to go through so much crap in 2 1/2 months. We are starting to second guess ourselves and our choice to buy a house. Steven and I are firm believers in having "emergency money" as we call it.. it is just money we have saved up and we only use it for things that come up that we weren't expecting and that is expensive. Well we have been lucky through out the years and not needed to use much of it until now. In the past 2 1/2 months we have gone through $8,000.00 .. and I wish I could say it was for some fun vacations or a new car or something really exciting. The truth of the matter is.. it was for expenses in our new house. We had an inspector come inspect the house before we bought it and he informed us that there were very few problems, most of what we could fix ourselves. Never once were we told that any of the main things in the house weren't working. So lucky us..find out the hard way. We found out about a month ago that our wiring for the whole house was done extremely bad (the worst the electrician has EVER seen..might I add)..the electrician said that our house would burn down in the next few years if we don't get that fixed. Well our first thought was.. Hey! We have a home warranty and we were NOT aware of this problem when we got the house, so the home warranty will cover it. Ha ha.. RIGHT! Home warranty is a big waste of money! They wouldn't cover it because it was a pre-existing problem! Lucky us, we got to use our hard earned money on stupid electrical work that should have been done properly the first time. We also had some plumbing issues that caused some good drama as well as the ceiling leaking in the basement. And now as we come upon this month we come to find out that one of our windows is leaking and of course it isn't simple like a little cocking.. nope.. it is leaking through the whole window. And now as it is getting hotter.. (don't forget that I am almost 34 weeks pregnant and any temperature above 50 is HOT) our central air doesn't work. Now we were okay with this because our wonderful inspector told us that if the central air doesn't work that the home warranty would definitely cover that. WRONG! Guess again! We get to pull that money out of who knows where to fix the central air because it was once again.. pre-existing! So now as we speak, I am sitting in a blistering hot house with no cool air flowing anywhere and I get to use my hard earned money on central air..which wouldn't be a big deal, but our inspector decided to screw us royally and tell us that it would be covered. We keep thinking that each problem has to be the last one, and weeks go by with more problems. It has got to stop or we might just end up on the street because we have no more money! Now we dont get to use that money for anything we wanted to use it for like a new driveway, new windows, a garage door opener, or I know.. money to spend on the baby!
Don't think that I am a big complainer or ungrateful, because I try to stay positive and know that things happen for a reason, but I have about hit the mark of explosion. I do know that we are two lucky people and have two wonderful families that absolutely love us and would help and support us in any way we asked. We do live in an awesome house in a nice neighborhood, and we both have jobs that help us pay for not only the crappy things, but the fun things as well. I just hope that we are about to the end of the huge expenses in the house because we have a baby coming and I want to give this baby everything he deserves! So hopefully the big problems will end so I can concentrate on things that are important to me!

32 weeks

Wowsers! Have I reached 40 weeks yet?!
Well nothing too exciting or crazy has been happening in our life lately (I'm not complaining!).. but it doesn't leave me much to blog about. I need to be more like some of my other fellow bloggers who do a much better job of blogging about whatever, whenever! But anyway.. I am almost 33 weeks and quite excited to be chugging along! We went to the doctor this week and she said that our lil one is not so little..he is 5 lbs, a week ahead of schedule. Of course that doesn't mean that I will have him a week early, but I can sure hope he continues to grow big so he will come early!! I am so excited that he has finally hit 5 lbs! Yay! As for me.. I am doing good.. people just this week have started saying that I am finally getting big, not sure if that is a compliment or an insult, but I take it as a compliment. The past few months I have been hearing that I am not big at all, so that is a change for me! I have gained 23 lbs, so that isn't bad at all.. I hope to keep the weight gain lower, but either way I will be happy as long as the baby is healthy! I continue to eat Golden Grahams every single morning, and they are still delicious! I really really crave watermelon, weird as that sounds, I can't get enough of it! I seriously have to force myself not to eat the whole watermelon in one sitting. I also really enjoy cold things like slurpees, icee's, playdough ice cream..stuff like that! And a new craving that I come upon is anything BBQ.. yummy! It is getting harder for me to put shoes on or shave my legs, so who knows what I will do in a month when I really can't put my own shoes on!
This summer has been great so far, besides the fact that the weather hasn't been nice! But I try not to complain because the hotter it seems to get, the less sleep I get. And we came to find out this week that our central air is not working.. it is dead! Guess it is the oldest central air machine thingy that the guy has ever seen! Lucky us! So now we are trying to get our warranty to cover it, but they seem to have other ideas! Anyway.. Steven has got the chance to go golfing a few times already and we have gone to the movies a few times. We figured we better go do some of that stuff cause it will be a little harder when the baby comes.
Tomorrow we are headed down to Zions with my side of the family. We are extremely excited since this is our only vacation of the year. So hopefully I will bring back some cool pictures to share!
And that is about it in our life right now.. hope all is well!
Thanks for coming to our blog! We hope you enjoy reading about our life and please leave a comment so we know you stopped by!!
